Shari Brookler and Azriel LaMarca began dancing and creating together in the summer of 2011. Delighted to discover their artistic compatibility, they began getting to know one another through the medium of dance. Over the last year and a half, they have created three duets that trace the evolution of friendship. For this intimate concert, they have also invited a handful of dancers and improvisers to join them.
A dancer at heart, Shari earned her MFA in choreography and performance from California State University, Long Beach where she taught both Modern dance and Pilates.  Following the completion of her Masters degree, she danced and choreographed for The Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company.
A native of Nevada County and a child of the Ridge, Azriel grew up studying ballet and drama. She received her BA in Theater Arts with a focus in dance performance and choreography from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Azriel went on to study and perform at the American Dance Festival and in New York City and later moved to Charlottesville, Virginia where she performed with the experimental dance theater company, The Zen Monkey Project.
